More on the Topic of Womb Transplantation
February 20, 2008
Sam
So womb transplantation is not very common and most people have never heard of it. There are many ethical issues surrounding this operation. Most transplants are required in order to survive while uterus transplants are made to improve the quality of life. The donor of this transplanted uterus is usually a cadaver due to the fact that if a live transplant would be used the donor would lose too much blood. Most women who donate thier bodies to science are unaware that the uterus is one organ that may be donated. Would you be ok with the donation of a family member’s uterus is they were unaware? Would this be an ethical idea if the donor specified that the uterus could be used? These ethical issues are not very debated due to the fact that many people are unaware of this procedure. Please leave behind some thoughts and ideas to get this debate started.

I do find it quite amazing that such things as womb transplanting exsist, although I do beleive that when a person gives there body to science that if there are certain things don’t want done to their body, they just should not donate themselves.
